Elaine I. Simons

Elaine I. Simons, age 81, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Wilson Health. She was born on October 11, 1940, in Russia, OH, to the late Louis and Irma (Didier) Oldiges.  On July 12, 1958 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, she married James N. Simons and he survives.  They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, Elaine is survived by five children: Kimberly (Kevin) Bowman of Sidney, Michael J. Simons, of Fairfield, Lisa (Tim) Honaker of Sidney, James B. Simons of Jacksonville, FL, and Steven D. Simons of Sidney; one sister: Donna Cornwell of Sidney; one sister-in-law: Joyce Simons; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson: Luke Bowman; brothers and sister-in-law: John and Marsha Oldiges, Robert Oldiges and Tim Oldiges; brother-in-law: John Simons; brother and sister-in-law: Ross and Norma Driskell; and sister-in-law: Marjorie Massey.

Elaine was a 1958 graduate of Minster High School.  She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.  Elaine was a retired dental assistant, having worked for Dr. Elliott for many years.  Elaine and her husband loved being snowbirds for 20 years and spent every winter in Florida.  Elaine loved spending time with her family and was a very good cook.  Elaine like to visit casinos.  She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.  Elaine was a volunteer at F.I.S.H, the Alpha Center and the local soup kitchen.  She was an avid OSU football fan.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, OH with Deacon Philip Myers officiating.  Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.  Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
