Edward Martin Lindsey, age 87, of Sidney, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Spring Hills Assisted Living in Middletown. He was born on December 22, 1933, in Altoona, PA, to the late John and Alice (Coller) Lindsey. On July 6, 1957, he married Nena S. (Truax) Lindsey and she preceded him in death on June 29, 1998.
Edward is survived by three children: Marcia K. Hughes and Alice A. Wittbold, both of Middletown, and Mark Lindsey of Sidney; three grandchildren: Lindsey Hughes, Travis Cotterman and Ashley Michael; granddaughter: Claire Hughes; and helper companion: Beverly A. McClain of Sidney. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother: Richard C. Lindsey of Huntington, PA; and one son-in-law: Roy Wittbold.
Edward was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute in Williamsport, PA. He retired in 1996 from Copeland Corporation after 30 years as a Senior Gauge Designer. Edward was also a real estate broker in Sidney. Edward proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, during the Korean War, the Pennsylvania National Guard and US Naval Reserve. He received an honorable discharge from each of these military branches. Edward was a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217, Stokes Lodge 305 F&AM in Port Jefferson, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1391 in Minster and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 691 in Wapakoneta. He was also a lifetime member of Shelby County Deer Hunters.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, OH with Chaplain Angela Barfield officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson. Full military honors will be provided by Shelby County Veterans and US Army. Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. The family asks that everyone who attends wear a mask.
