Eddie Hoot Gibson

Eddie Hoot Gibson, age 94, of Sidney, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.  He was born in Itman, West Virginia, the son of the late Beulah (Swim) Gibson and Reid D. Gibson of Sidney, Ohio. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. Gibson , mother Beulah D Gibson, father Reid D. Gibson and brother William D. Gibson.

 He is survived by his sister, Nancy J. Duncum.  He is also survived by four children.  Starr (Lawrence) Gould, Brenda J. Thompson, Eddie R. (Cindy) Gibson and Jill (Jerry) Givens.  Also survived by grandsons; Brent R. (Melanie) Klauss, Rusty (Vickie) Schwepe, Reid (Stacy) Gibson; granddaughters Jennifer Elsner, Julie (Tony) Metzler, April (Jay) Rhoden .  Great grandchildren; Austin (Kayla) Klauss, Keller V. Klauss, Noah Schwepe, Evelyn Schwepe, Bree Metzler, Brooke Metzler, Alex Rhoden, Drew Rhoden, Geno Givens, Braden Schwarzwalder.  Great-great  grandchildren; Lila Mae Klauss and Riley Jean Tolley and extended family and friends. 

He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Hoot” by all grandchildren and loved by all. Eddie was a successful sales leader with the Shaklee Corporation for over 50 years.  He and his wife Barbara traveled extensively to several countries due to their success in their business.

He was a member of Stokes Masonic Lodge and a member of Sidney First Methodist Church.

Eddie loved people and enjoyed all the activities and friends at Dorothy Love where he resided.  Eddie enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

Friends may call Monday, February 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  at Dorothy Love Retirement Center, with services starting at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Barb Sayler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dorothy Love Employee Christmas Fund, 3003 Cisco Road, Sidney, OH  45365.
