Douglas A. Short, 78, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Shelby Skilled Nursing Home in Sidney.
Douglas was born on February 21, 1944, in Wauseon, Ohio, to Maynard and Marian (Johnson) Short. On June 14, 1969, he married the love of his life, Linda (Couchot) Short, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Amy (Tony) Botzenhardt of Troy and Karen (Steve) Fogt of Sidney. Doug also has 4 grandchildren, Trent (Lindsay) Alexander of Mentor, Kohl (Anna) Kirkland of Lebanon, Brittany Fischer of Miamisburg and Ashlyn Fogt of Sidney. He is also has 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Brooklynn Alexander.
Douglas has 2 brothers, Stephen (Ginny) Short of Granite Bay, California and Mark (Cheryl) Short of Wapakoneta, and one brother-in-law, Roger Short of Toledo, one sister, Susan Short preceded him in death.
Douglas was a graduate of Defiance College and Bowling Green State University. He spent many years teaching Special Education in Shelby, Logan and Auglaize counties. He also spent several years as the Sales Manager at WMVR Radio Station. Doug had a love for trains and model railroading. He and Linda took many Amtrak train trips around the United States. He was a life-long fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. For over 40 years, Doug attended the Indianapolis 500 races which he enjoyed very much. Most of all, Doug loved his family more than anything in this world.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
