Dorothy L. (Douglass) Holthaus

Dorothy L. Holthaus, 95, of Sidney, passed away at her home on March 2, 2021 of natural causes.  Dorothy was born February 7, 1926 in Scott, Ohio to Fred and Adecima (Schaffer) Douglass.

Dorothy graduated from Union High School in 1944.  After high school, Dorothy went to International Business School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She later married Paul Leonard in 1948; they had two sons, Jim Leonard of Columbus, Ohio and Larry Leonard of Sidney. Paul passed away of a heart attack in 1962.  Dorothy met Clell Waldrop in 1963 and son, Robert Waldrop was born in 1969. 

Dorothy worked at Copeland Corporation for 22 years.  She retired and became a full time mom until age 55.  She went to work for the City of Sidney, where she worked in the Transportation Department.  She also volunteered at S & H Products.  Dorothy was one of the founders of the Senior Center.  Dorothy traveled to 49 out of the 50 states and most of Europe in her lifetime.

Dorothy married Ed Holthaus in 1977.  She loved to play cards at the Senior Center and with her grandkids and great-grand kids and even taught her great, great-grand kids to play many card games.  Dorothy had lots of loss in her life.  She outlived 3 husbands and a son and a brother.  She always had an amazing spirit and so many neat stories to tell. She loved with all her heart. 

Dorothy has three sons, one stepson and one stepdaughter, Larry Leonard and wife Ellen of Sidney, Robert Waldrop and wife Dianne of Seattle, and Danny Waldrop and wife  Arlene of Lima, Jeri Puthoff of Minster, nine grandkids, thirteen great grandkids and twelve great, great-grandkids.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Adecima Douglas, son Jim Leonard and brother Bill Douglass.

Dorothy spent 95 years loving and caring for many! She traveled the world and doing what she loved.  She will be greatly missed by many! We loved you so much and will always know we have a beautiful angel watching over us always!

Family and friends may visit on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Adams  Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. John Young, officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
