Donald C Wawsczyk Jr

Donald “Don” C. Wawsczyk Jr., age 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 6, 2025, after an arduous four-month battle with cancer at Hospice of Miami County surrounded by family and friends. Don was born on October 21, 1959, in Clarksville, Tennessee to Donald C. Wawsczyk Sr. and the late Linda (Nichols) Wawsczyk. On February 2, 1980, he married Carol (Kerns) Wawsczyk and she survives in Sidney, Ohio.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Brian (Angie) Wawsczyk of South Bend, Indiana and grandchildren Jacob and Ryan Erwin. As well as, his bald-headed stepchild John (Melanie) Shurts and their children Brayden, Carter, and Owen of Sidney. Special friends include Dave and Jewel Scholl of Sidney.

Don spent 20+ years as a heavy line automotive technician for local dealerships before becoming an automotive instructor for Upper Valley Career Center in 2000 until his retirement in 2024. Don had a passion for cars, tinkering in the garage, and teaching the next generation skills to thrive. He loved a good bargain and frequently enjoyed going to yard sales and swap meets. In his earlier years, Don loved stock car racing, including area tracks Eldora and Shady Bowl in his free time. Don didn’t know a stranger and had numerous friends both personal and professional. Don became a member of the Masonic Fraternity in 2002. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at Adams Funeral Home on Sunday August 10, 2025, at 3pm with visitation starting at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Miami County in Don’s name.
