Donald A. Deaton, age 61, of Sidney, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at his residence. He was born on August 17, 1961 in Lena to the late Alan and Lois (Hall) Deaton. On December 31, 2009, he married Susan (Anthony) Deaton and she survives.
Don is also survived by five children: Laura (Craig) Edge of New Prague, MN; Kevin (Jennifer) Deaton, Sr. of Piqua, OH, Ryan Tolbert of Columbus, OH, Kaitlyn Tolbert of Sidney, OH and Emily Tolbert of Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren: Isabella Deaton and Kevin Deaton, Jr; siblings: Wayne (Patty) Deaton of Piqua and Deb (John) Hanner of Beaver Creek; and his faithful dog: Sugar Bear.
Don was a graduate of Miami East High School. He was a crew leader at Cargill for 41 years. Don was an avid sports fan and loved Ohio State football and the Cincinnati Reds. He played with the Dayton Legends Softball Team, inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame in 2019 and the Legends of the Game in 2021. Don had the privilege of playing in the Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Camp in 2022. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with Pastor Mike Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, In honor of Don’s softball career, please wear your favorite softball shirt or sports jersey.
