It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Debra Jean (Hooker) Hughes, age 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio

Debra Jean (Hooker) was born in Moore's Creek Knox County Kentucky, to Virgil Hooker and Pearl (Smith-Hooker) Meade on October 20, 1959

Debra J. Hooker was married in Sidney to James R. Hughes on April 11, 1983.

Deb is survived by her husband of 43 years James R. Hughes of Sidney, her son Chris (Julie) Roediger of Sidney, her stepdaughter Amy (Mike) Clingman of Bellevue, stepson Derek Hughes of Lebanon. Grandchildren, Jacob (Tanya Roediger), Eric Roediger, Jessica (Shane) Rice-Hartzell, Kayla (Dan) Cooksey, Christian (Hannah) Clingman, Dalton Hughes, Xavier Hughes, Cameron Hess. Siblings, Larry (Pam) Hooker of Sidney, Cliff (Kim) Hooker of Sidney, Joyce (Robert) Bey of Sidney, Barb (Kenny) Brown of Sidney, Tina (Michael) Van De Grift of Piqua. Brother-in-Law Ron (Laura) Hughes Sidney. Sister-in-Law Cindy Comolli of Sidney, best friend Deb Inderrieden of Port Jefferson.

Deb was preceded in death by her Father Virgil Hooker, Stepfather David Meade, former husband and father of her son Kent Roediger, Father-in-law Wilbur Hughes, Mother-in-law Betty Hughes, Brother-in-law David Comolli.

Deb was employed at Ikeda, Hydro Aluminum and RCI in the quality departments. She had an incredible busy bee energy. Whether it was at work or home, she was diligent and had an amazing attention to detail. When she completed a task, she would look for the next one.

She was a vibrant, stunning, graceful beauty. She had a sunshiny disposition. She enjoyed being outside and loved the beach. She looked forward to the spring when she could hike and hunt for mushrooms. She loved having flowers and plants. She always had a bountiful garden and loved to can and prepare for the winter. She loved to cook and put her love into every dish.

She was trusting, loving and loyal. She would tell you when you were wrong and help you get it right. She was committed to her husband and was so proud of her son Chris, he was the joy of her life. She dearly loved her family and friends. She loved and had a special bond with her poodles Cleo and Elliott.

There will always be a void in our hearts, we will forever love and miss her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 304 S. West Avenue, Sidney, Ohio, dinner will follow.
