David VanTilburgh Obituary

With deepest love and greatest sorrow, we lay to rest, David Alan VanTilburgh of Sidney, Ohio.  David was born on June 24th, 1956 to Odis and Eileen (Laughman) VanTilburgh, of Sidney, Ohio.  David unexpectedly passed away on July 1st, 2024, of natural causes, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.  David had just celebrated his 68th birthday.  David’s passing leaves behind an immense void to all those who knew him; loved him; and cherished him dearly.

David was a devoted and loving son to his parents, who survived him in death.  It is said that there is no greater loss than that of a child.  Dear Lord, let an abundance of love, support, and prayers, help to comfort Odis and Eileen at this time.

David was also survived by his beloved siblings; James (Elaine) VanTilburgh, Cheryl (Kevin) Horvath, and Dale VanTilburgh.  His siblings will always remember his infectious laugh that filled the home with joy, as well as his playful, joking spirit.

David is also survived by his loving uncles; Herb (Judy) VanTilburgh, and Gary VanTilburgh, as well as his nieces and nephews; Jason (Jennifer) Cavinder, Dana (Terry) Davis, Erica (Joshua) Aldrich, Brian (Jillian) Cavinder, Braden (Stephanie) Horvath, and Sara (Bobby) Mayer; great nieces and nephews and many fond cousins.

David found great pride and happiness in his life, with his work at S&H Products.  He dedicated an impressive 45 years to S&H.  It was there that he found a second family, full of love, friendship, and support.  David made countless memories there and was given abundant opportunities to be involved in activities that greatly fulfilled his life.  In his early years there, David participated in the Special Olympics track team and the S&H basketball team, where he was awarded for his outstanding abilities.  His enthusiasm and sportsmanship were inspiring to all.  Through S&H, David also served his community, volunteering at the local soup kitchen and becoming a greeter at that YMCA where he welcomed everyone with warmth, a wave, and a smile.  David also enjoyed his time helping with activities at the YMCA daycare.  Recently, S&H honored David as the Ambassador of Heart Health, for extending his knowledge of heart health, and its importance, to his peers.  Those at S&H speak so highly of David and say that they will miss him dearly.  David’s family will forever be grateful for all those at S&H who helped him live such a fulfilled and happy life.

David will be remembered for so many things; his smile, his infectious laugh, his love of football (O-H-I-O), his unwavering positivity, and his ability to see the world with a sense of wonder and excitement that touched the hearts of all who truly knew him.

David had a strong faith in God, one that was pure and unchallenged.  He would always point up to the heavens and remind those around him that God would fix it.  This is a great comfort to David’s parents, who have faith that their son is now with God, as they too point up to the heavens.

Rest in peace David, as your kind spirit, joy, and faith will always be remembered.
