David Michael McBride, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 82, peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 with his loving and devoted family by his side. David was born to the late Charles and Marion (Sutts) McBride in Wyandot, Michigan on September 7, 1940.
David grew up surrounded by many loving family members. He spent countless hours fishing and hunting with his father, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He attended the University of Dayton with studies in Accounting. David was an associate at The Dayton Biltmore Hotel. There he met his treasured and beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Beth (Welsh)McBride. After their first date at a picture show, West Side Story, a loving courtship began. David and Mary Beth were married on October 21, 1961 at Corpus Christi Church. The young couple lived in Kettering, Ohio, made a move to Coshocton, Ohio, and then chose Sidney, Ohio to raise their four children. David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Beth and four children, Dennis, Doug, Elizabeth, and Kristine. Dennis and wife Brenda reside in Beavercreek, Ohio. Doug and wife Julie reside in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Elizabeth and husband Joel reside in Elida, Ohio. Kristine and husband Scott reside in Sidney, Ohio. Life was celebrated with 15 grandchildren, Julia (Brock), Angela (Justin), Lydia, Melinda, Ashley, Hayley, Devin, Cade, Max, Eli, Emmie, Treg (Lauren), Masie (James), Dylan (Catherine), and Braiden. The celebrations continued with 8 great-grandchildren. Dave is also survived by sister-in-laws Nancy Pittman and Corrine Algermissen and many caring nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Richard, and sister, Barbara.
David continued his career in Accounting at Towers Communication, which led to his ownership at Norseman Cable Company in Northwest Ohio. David owned various businesses, which ultimately led to his true passion for antiques, with the Country Closet Barn in Anna, Ohio. Patrons would be welcomed with explanations and stories of antiques and rare items. David became a well-known source of knowledge for past treasures and things forgotten. David dedicated many years as a coach and a volunteer at Lehman Catholic High School. During those years David impacted countless students, parents and faculty with his enthusiasm and uncompromising spirit. Most fall Sundays David could be found watching football and his favorite team, The Pittsburgh Steelers. More than anything else David relished his time spent with his family. Days were filled with sporting events, concerts and plenty of family gatherings brimming with his favorite stories. David leaves behind a remarkable legacy that will carry on his work ethic, passion for life and outstanding family values.
David was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Sidney, Ohio. David was also an Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus. David was a member of the Sidney Men's Tennis Group and was inducted into the Lehman Catholic Hall of Fame in 2019. David was an avid supporter of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio. Mass and Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 10:30 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio.
