David E. Gunnell

David E. Gunnell, 79, passed away September 30, 2021, in his home in Crystal River, FL surrounded by family.  He is survived by his wife, Carlyn and children Greg Gunnell of Sidney, OH, Susan Meister (Mike) of Haleiwa, HI, Mark Gunnell of Crystal River and Lisa Holland (Doug) of Oldsmar, FL, grandchildren Nathan, Casey, Taylor, Chloe, Max, Samantha, and David (DJ), great-grandchildren Taryn and Jadyn.  He is preceded in death by his daughter Christine Bayley of Crystal River who passed June 2021. 

David was born August 9, 1942, to Earl and Margarette Gunnell in Pulaski, TN.  His family relocated to Sidney, OH in 1953 where David graduated high school in 1960.  Following graduation, David worked full time at Baumfolder and part time at night for the Sidney Daily News setting type.  In 1963 he married Carlyn H. Bowman, daughter of D.W. & Helen Bowman.  David had continued success at Baumfolder and headed a group that purchased the company from William H. Farley in the late 1970’s.  David sold the company in 1987 and he and his wife retired to Crystal River, FL.  

David and daughter, Christine, will be buried at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, OH.  Arrangements by Adams Funeral Home.  Services for family and friends will be October 8 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney.  Reception will follow burial at The Bridge restaurant.  No gifts or flowers  are required in memory.  Should you desire, please contribute to your favorite charity.  The family feels fondly of Moffitt Cancer Center and the YMCA.
