Charlene Gillespie Echols, age 83, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was born January 12, 1941, in Sidney, to the late Robert Gillespie and Viola (Leonard) Schaffner.
Charlene is survived by husband, Terry D. Echols of Sidney, children; Kelly (David) Wion of Greenville, Michele (Don) Mumford of Sidney, Michael L.B. Hand of Sidney, Angela (Tom) Martin of Sidney, Kimberly (Brian) Magill of Forest, Ohio, Brian (Jessica) Echols of Troy, mother-in-law Grace Echols of Sidney, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are siblings; sister Jeannie Long of Covington, sister-in-law Linda (Jake) Gillespie of Sidney, Bob (Elaine) Echols of Sidney, Diane (Jody) Allen of Sidney, Deloris Vaughn of Jacksonville, FL., Danny (Susan) Echols of Cridersville, Ron (Lisa) Echols of Sidney, Randy (Brenda) Echols of Sidney, Denise (Randy) Bryant of Virginia Beach, VA, Sherry Graves of Cincinnati, Ben (Michelle) Schellenberg of Piqua, Bill Schellenberg of Sidney and Beth Schellenberg of Akron.
She was preceded in death by brother Charles Gillespie, brother-in-law Steve Long, father-in-law John R. Echols.
Charlene was a member of the Sidney First Methodist. She retired from Copeland Corporation after 37 years of faithful service. She also worked at Comfort Keeper and as a Paramedic for Shelby Life Squad. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sports, flower gardening, Vegas, fishing, traveling, going to Holmes County, cake decorating and feeding hummingbirds.
Family and friends may visit at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon with funeral service commencing at noon with Pastor Dave Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Lockington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Charlene’s memory. A special thanks to Jennie, Renee and Wanda for their compassionate care for my wife, mother and grandmother.
