Carol J. (Barhorst) Lochtefeld

Carol J. Lochtefeld, 88, of Sidney, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025.  She was born on February 5, 1937, in Shelby County to Edward Barhorst and Agnes (Gariety) Barhorst.

On June 7, 1958, she married the love of her life, Leroy Francis Lochtefeld and he preceded her in death October 30, 2020.  Carol is survived by three children, Mark (Janice) Lochtefeld, Randy (Katie) Lochtefeld and Beth (Terry) Spicer; six grandchildren, Michael (Caitlin) Lochtefeld, Daniel Lochtefeld, Jaclyn (Matthew) Harman, Haleigh (Chris) Baker, Paxton Spicer, Kennedy (Shelby) Hoying, eight great-grandchildren, Silvana, McKinley, Easton, Dallan, Helena, Catherine, Emery, and Adalynn.  Also surviving are siblings, Barb (Larry) Francis, Jane (Vernon) Monnin, and Edward (Alice) Barhorst.  In-laws Martha Kirk, and Bernice Barhorst and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Virgil Barhorst, Ruth Jutte, Thomas Barhorst, Lenore Otte, Mary O'Halloran, Leonard Barhorst.

Carol was a graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church and a card club with her dear friends.  She loved traveling in the Kirk's motor home with the "Dirty Dozen" to Lehman games and state tournaments. She was a sports fan following OSU football and basketball teams, the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. Carol loved her family dearly.  She also loved gardening, planting flowers, fishing, and making turtle soup.  Carol loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 9 - 10:00 AM at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Father John Tonkin officiating,119 E Water Street, Sidney.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
