Bruce Wayne Thompson

Bruce Wayne Thompson, age 66, of Sidney, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at his residence.  He was born on February 1, 1957, in Sidney, to the late Herman and Audra (Dalton) Thompson.  On March 23, 2021, he married Beth Anne (Bynum) Thompson and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Danielle Beckemeyer of Palm Beach, FL, Christopher (Melissa) Thompson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Sarah “Quinnie” (Antonio) Echevarria of Zephyrhills, FL, Jacob Raterman of Oakland, CA, Hayley Raterman of Dayton, OH and Josie Raterman of Sidney, OH; grandchildren: Ally, Jake, Macey, Madeline, Savannah, Chase and Cheyenne; two siblings: John (Laura Osborne) Thompson of Sidney, OH, and Herman (Jane) Thompson of Summerville, SC; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Bryan Thompson; and one sister: Jackie Thompson.

Bruce retired from Emerson in Sidney where he was a fabrication welder.  He was also previously employed by Reliable Castings.  Bruce attended Sidney High School and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sidney.  He played lots of golf and enjoyed bowling with family and friends.  Bruce was a MacGyver of sorts, with a bullheaded blue collar tenacity and determination to fix things.  It seemed that he always had a project to work on and play with, whether it was a car, van, motorcycle, camper, boat, three wheeler, whatever the flavor of the month was.  Some of these projects had some colorful and interesting names, i.e. Black Scab, great white buffalo, the instigator.  Bruce had an incredible vivacity for life and enjoyed everything out-of-doors.  He had a passion for car shows, going to the races, riding his Harley and traveling.  He especially loved to visit his beloved children in Florida as often as he could.  Bruce surrounded himself with good company and good times.  He did not know a stranger and was loved and will be missed by many family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home. 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor Joshua Morgan officiating.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
