Betty Jo Newcomb, 90, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully on May 3,2026, at Otterbein Green Hills in West Liberty, where she went Home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on April 26, 1936, in Superior, West Virginia, to the late John and Nollie (England) Brown.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Newcomb, who passed away on October 24, 1995.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rebecca Puckett of Dandridge, Tennessee; Melvin Newcomb Jr. of DeGraff; John Newcomb (Sandy Reed) of DeGraff; and Martin (Shantell) Newcomb of Marysville. She is also survived by her brother, Earl Richard Brown, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sons, Jack Newcomb and James Darrell Newcomb, as well as her brother, Jack Brown and her son-in-law, Joseph Puckett.
A devoted member of Mt. Tabor Church of God in DeGraff, Betty was known as a strong Christian woman who loved to read her Bible. She spent many years cleaning a local bank and many private homes before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed trivia, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Mt. Tabor Church of God, 8113 County Road 13, DeGraff, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Nathan Price officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Quincy.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.
