Betty L. (Riggs) Hughes

Betty Lee Hughes, age 89, of Sidney, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney.

Betty Lee Hughes, born Betty Lee Riggs in Middlebourne (Tyler County) West Virginia, to Eaton C. Riggs and Helen M. (Sellers) Riggs on October 10, 1934.

She was a graduate of Middletown (Ohio) High School Class of 1952. A member of Eastern Star (Butler County). She graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing (Cincinnati) in 1956. She was a nurse at McCullough Hyde Hospital, Oxford Ohio, also at Middletown Hospital (Ohio) for 15 years, and at Wilson Memorial Hospital (Sidney, Ohio) for 35 years. She was the receiver of numerous accolades throughout her life of service to humanity.  She was a follower and true believer of our Lord Jesus Christ.

She was married and survived by husband Wilbur L. Hughes for 68 years as of June 2, 2024.  Survived by 3 children, James “Randy” Hughes (Deborah), Ronald C. Hughes (Laura), Cynthia Comolli (David deceased), 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents and brother William Riggs.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Ohio Living Dorothy Love Retirement Community Chapel.
