Austin John Snowden Jr., age 91, of Sidney, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026. He was born January 16, 1934, in Huntington, Indiana, to the late Austin John Snowden Sr. and Lydia (Watkins) Snowden.
On June 30, 1956, he married Hattie Nellaward (Madewell) Snowden in Lubbock, Texas. She preceded him in death May 20, 2001. On September 1, 2001, he married Joyce Ann (Sparks) Snowden, and she survives.
John is survived by children, Patsy Snowden Rabinowitz of West Chester, A. John Snowden III of Sidney, Dana Geuy of Piqua, grandchildren, Jenna Schwenk, Jared Rabinowitz, Alex Altschul, Avriel Fraley, Ross Geuy; step-children, Rick (Becky) Shie of California, Brenda Shie of Sidney, Ronald (Cheryl) Shie of Sidney, Robert (Sarah) Helman of Vandalia, and nine step-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Ella Jean Madewell of Sidney, Eula Jane Madewell of Levelland, Texas, Mary Brunswick of Sidney, Paul Snowden of Dayton, and many nieces and nephews.
John was a member of the Northtowne Church of God and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, and Gideon’s of Shelby County for over 50 years. He owned two Mobil Stations in Sidney for over 20 years, retired from Stolle Corporation in Sidney, and was a retired Realtor from Helman Enterprises in Sidney.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Carl McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, with full military honors performed by the Shelby County Veterans and the US. Air Force.
