Viola "Connie" (Stephens) Shannon

Viola “Connie” Shannon, 69, of 632 Spyglass Ct., Sidney, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born April 12, 1943 in Casstown, the daughter of the late Clyde Stephens and Opal (Blair) Stephens.
In April, 1960, she married Edward Schutte and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1969.

On May 13, 1972, she married Paul Shannon and he survives in Sidney.

Connie will be remembered by her six children, Dale Schutte, of  Sidney, Mark (Debbie) Schutte, of Anna, Steve (Traci) Schutte, of Columbus, Bonita Nicodemus, of Sidney, Robin (Doug) Stammen, of Sidney, and Lisa (Nick) Davidson, of Piqua, one sister; Peggy Martin, of Coleman, AL, one brother; Claude L. (Carol) Stephens, of Cliffside, NC, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Marcel Stephens and one sister, Donna Bell Garrett.

Connie was a long time member of the Sidney Wesleyan Church, in Sidney. Among her many hours of volunteer work, she also served as the Sunday School Superintendent, a teacher, the Children’s Program Director and the Women’s Missionary Leader.

Connie was retired from Minster Machine, in Minster. Her hobby was crafting and she loved using her imagination in creating her crafts. Connie was a shop-a-holic and loved shopping at the thrift stores. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor Steve Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
Family and friends may call from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Adams Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice Care, 1081 Fairington Drive, Sidney, OH 45365.
