Robert E. Spillers

Robert E. Spillers, age 87, of Sidney passed away peacefully July 21, 2018 at Dorothy Love.

Robert was born July 25, 1930 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to father George Spillers and mother Emma Arnold (Spillers) who preceded him in death. He was married to Bessiemae Hogan on July 2, 1950 who preceded him in death on February 28, 1988. He married Ann Stump-Kuck Spillers in October 28, 1989. 

Robert is survived by siblings Randy (Roxanne) Spillers of Minster, Ohio, Becky (Ken) Prenger of Minster, Ohio; step-children Tom (Sukie) Kuck, Craig (Melanie) Kuck, Al (Deb) Kuck; grandchildren Ashley (Travis) Milliser, Justin (Danyel) Spillers, Kurt (Karamae) Prenger, Marc Prenger , Stephanie Kuck, Matt Kuck, Paige Kuck, Quin Kuck, Kaylan (Dan) Look, Elijah Kuck, Breah Kuck, Nicholas (Laci) Overbey, Kyliegh Overbey; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Noah, Owen, Aria, Reid, Ruby, Ian, Elizabeth, Annabelle. He is preceded in death by great-grandchild Kyara Look; daughter-in-law Joan Spillers and grandchild Jason Spillers; brothers Chalmer, Melvin, Ormal, and James; and sisters Lilly, Minnie, Thelma, Treva, Georgianna, Loretta, Mary, and Dorthy.   

Robert retired from Shelby Manufacturing in 1992. He was a member of Gateway Square Dancers, involved in the Sidney Presbyterian Church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217, volunteered at Wilson Hospital, volunteered at Dorothy Love Retirement Center, belonged to the Sidney Boosters for wrestling, and was a member of the Dorothy Love traveling shuffleboard team. He enjoyed woodworking and painting. His lawn art can be seen on display at Dorothy Love. He was an active Cincinnati Red’s fan and Ohio State fan. He also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to go boating and fishing. Ann and Robert liked to attend their grandchildren’s various school activities. He really loved helping other people and being a true friend to those around him.

Friends and family may call at St. Paul’s Church of Christ in Sidney, Ohio on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with services to follow. Pastor Jim Oates will be officiating services. There will be full military services by Legion Post 217. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home will be caring for the needs of the Spillers family.
