Mary Catherine (Olberding) Brown

MARY CATHERINE BROWN, age 65, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, at her residence.  She was born in Coldwater on May 5, 1952 to the late Herman and Verona (Brandewie) Olberding.  On August 30, 1973, she married Phillip Peter Brown and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2016.

Mary is survived by four children: Terry (Bettina) Brown of Sidney, Chad (Cara) Brown of Bellbrook, Charity (Brown) Bodenmiller of Sidney and Ruthanna (James) Clayton of Sidney; grandchildren: Tyler, Phillip, Isabella, Alexander, Cadynce, Miranda-Lynn, Joseph and Averi; step grandchildren: Douglas, Devan, Elizabeth, Bailey, Nathaniel and Christian; and close family friend: Wayne Fouts; and brothers: Henry (Rita) Olberding, Ron (Jean) Olberding and Herman (Jeannette) Olberding, all of Minster, Ed Olberding and Paul Olberding of Ft. Loramie.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mary and her husband, Phillip, owned and operated Brown’s Handstripping for over 40 years.  She was employed the last several years in the deli department of Wal-Mart.  Mary enjoyed gardening and animals.  She especially enjoyed attending the Shelby County Fair, but the light of her life was her family.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.  Mary will always be remembered for her sense of humor, smile and big caring heart.  She will be forever loved and missed.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with Rev. Philip Chilicothe officiating.  Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton.  Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
