Marcella (Marcie) M. Gates

Marcella (Marcie) M Gates, age 75, of Sidney, went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at her residence.

Marcie was born June 15, 1942 in De Graff, Ohio. She was predeceased by her sister Ida Rose Ickes.

She is survived by her loving sister Mary Mertz of Houston, daughter, Kelli Ann Ickes (Maurice) of Sidney, son, Chris Allen Gates (Debra) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, grandsons Maurice III and Chris Jr, granddaughters Allison and Grace, and many nieces and nephews.

She was an active parishioner at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. Marcie worked in transportation for Shelby Hills and S&H Products for 30 years. She opened her home for adults with special needs and was an active Special Olympics volunteer for over 20 years. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be terribly missed by her family, many friends and loved ones.

 Calling hours will be Monday evening February 26, 2018 from 4:00– 7:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Frank Amberger officiating.  Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to S&H Products or Special Olympics in Marcella’s name.
