James A. "Unc" Hudgins

JAMES A. “UNC” HUDGINS, age 74, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Sidney Care Center in Sidney.  He was born on December 21, 1942 in Rome, GA, to the late Arvinia L. Dean and Jessie Williams.

Unc is survived by children: David Immel of Arlington, TX, James “Jimmy” (Betsy) Vondenhuevel of Sidney, Jabari Hudgins of Sidney and Jacquia Hudgins of Sidney; 13 grandchildren; and siblings: Fred W. (Lillian) Hudgins Jr. of Piqua, John D. Hudgins of Piqua, Marquetta Watson of Cleveland, Albert E. Hudgins of Columbus, Ola L. Robertson of Sidney, Joseph L. Hudgins of Sidney, sister-in-law, Linda Hudgins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather: Kenish Hudgins; stepmother: Othella Hudgins; one brother: Charles K. Hudgins; and one sister: Julia Am Miller.

Unc was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.  He retired from Copeland Corporation and then from the City of Sidney.  Unc was an avid chess player, loved fixing anything and tinkering around and was a mentor for lots of people.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with Rev. James Bolling officiating.  Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.  Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
