James N. Romaker, age 88, of Sidney, passed away September 14, 2017 at Lane Park in Sidney.
He was born June 4, 1929 in Piqua, to the late Nicholas and Helen (Sherman) Romaker.
He was married to his wife Joan (Couchot) Romaker for 69 years and she survives in Sidney. Also surviving are children; Dave (Cari) Romaker, Jake (Julie) Romaker, Debbie (Lee) Rhodes, grandchildren; John Romaker, Stephanie (Ryan) Sollmann, Sara (Gary) Ellis, Heather (Adam) Huggins, Nick Romaker, Ben Romaker, step-grandchildren; Alex and Logan Rhodes, eight great grandchildren; Cortnee (Erick) Boettcher, Kali Ellis, Morgan Romaker, Brady Romaker, Sophie Sollmann, Emma Sollmann, Zoe Huggins, Everett Huggins, two great-great grandchildren; Frankie and Amelia Boettcher. Also surviving are sister, Jane Cottrell and brother-in-law, R. James Jones.
He was preceded in death by Dr. Gordon and Pat Libbee, Virginia Jones and Terry Cottrell.
James retired from Stolle/Alcoa Corporation in Sidney after 43 years of faithful service. He was an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, the Knights of Columbus Lodge and Holy Name Society. He volunteered at FISH and the soup kitchen and assisted with various funerals. He greatly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren during sporting events, loved playing cards, gardening, bicycling and going to the YMCA. He had a great gift to gab and did not know a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends may visit from 4 – 8 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, with Father Frank Amberger, officiating. Internment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice and/or the Holy Angels Catholic Church in James’s memory.
