Betty Jean (Heatherly) Hughes

Betty Jean Hughes, age 81, of Sidney, passed away peacefully September 2, 2019 at the Pavilion Nursing Home in Sidney.

She was born April 26, 1938, in Westburn, TN.  to the late John Henderson Heatherly and Nannie-Belle (Bailey) Heatherly.

She is survived by daughter, Becky Ann Hughes Barga of Sidney, sons; Lyle Edwin Hughes Jr. of Sidney, Andrew Jack Hughes II of Port Jefferson, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brother, Billy Ray and Dorothy Heatherly of Sidney.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, five brothers and four sisters.

Betty volunteered at the Salvation Army Church and was a very involved member of their Woman's Ministry. She enjoyed making homemade biscuits and pies, and walking to Walmart to spend time with her many friends. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Rev. Barbara Staley officiating.  Burial will be held at the Baker-Ford Cemetery in LaFollette, Tennessee.

Donations may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
