Anthony (Tony) McLain Obituary

Anthony Wayne McLain passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born June 29, 1971. He is survived by his wife Bridget and their 4 sons Alex, Austin, Andrew, and Adam (AJ); parents Keith and Pamela (Mounts) McLain of Sidney; one brother, Brian and his wife, Kristen, and their three children, Megan, Amanda, and Tyler of Chesapeake, VA; Bridget’s parents Mike and Melda Hussey of Sidney brother-in-law, Shawn, and his three children, Casey (wife Kasia), Madison, and Malorie Hussey.

Anthony married Bridget (Hussey) on July 8, 1995. He was a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Sidney Fire Department, and Bridget is a kindergarten teacher at Northwood School. He dedicated his life to service and his community to which he will be greatly missed. Being a third generation firefighter after his father and uncle, Anthony was proud of being a firefighter for the Sidney Fire Department.

Anthony has had many accomplishments over his 19 years of service. He was a lead instructor for multiple northern Miami Valley initial firefighter certification classes and Proboard Proctor through Sinclair, as well as the Apollo Career Center, Upper Valley JVS, and Clark State. He was a Core Group Instructor for Rapid Intervention Team and “Save Your Own” along with other miscellaneous outreach programs via the Shelby County Firefighter Association, to which he was an active member and had just been appointed Vice President to represent the Sidney Fire Department.

Anthony was promoted to Lieutenant in 2016 and was a Trustee for the IAFF Local 912 Union. To better the County and the Department, he was the lead advocate for the purchase of the Forcible Entry Door Simulator. He also owned A & B Lawn Service.

Anthony and Bridget loved their 4 sons and watched them in all of their activities from Austin playing Legion baseball and Tony coaching, AJ playing basketball, Andrew playing drums in SHS marching Band. They are so proud of Alex graduating early with two degrees – one in business and one in accounting and working for Clark Schafer in Dayton, OH. Fishing, camping, and shooting at Deer Hunters were his hobbies. His family is devastated over their loss. They love him and he will be missed greatly.

Adams Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The viewing will be held at Sidney First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 2 pm-7 pm. The funeral will be held at the same location on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anthony’s name to the Sidney Fire Department. Condolences may be expressed online at theadamsfuneralhome.com.
