Andrew Lewis Konz

ANDREW LEWIS KONZ, age 87, of Sidney, passed away on October 7, 2017 at his home with his loving family surrounding him.  Andrew was born on November 13, 1929 in Sidney.  The son of the late Andrew Walter and Ilo Mae (Webster) Konz.

He is survived by his wife of 67 year: Phyllis Jean (Dormire) Konz; two daughters: Sheryl Ann Rockwell (Bruce) of Bluffton, SC and Gayle Lynn Watkins of Piqua, OH; and son: Thomas Andrew Konz (Teresa) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Other survivors include seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters: Patricia Shie of Piqua, OH and Kathryn McMurray of Sidney, OH.  A sister, Phyllis Boroff of Sidney, OH, preceded him in death.

Andrew was a 1947 graduate of Sidney High School, where he lettered in football and basketball. He was an avid softball and baseball player for many years.  In a baseball game at Anna, he hit his longest home run when the ball landed in a box car of a freight train passing by the ball field. He attended Miami University in Oxford, OH.  Andrew enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1950 with the Miami Valley Buddy Platoon.  He worked eight years for the State of Ohio Highway Construction Department, 28 years as Project Manager of the Heavy and Highway Division of the B. G. Danis Co. of Dayton and two years as Construction Manager for Barrett Paving of Piqua.  Andrew was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 217 of Sidney.

Funeral service will be held at Adams Funeral Home on October 27, 2017 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Trenton Swanson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until the hour of the service.  The body was cremated and burial will be at a later date.
