Lawrence Eugene Monnier

Lawrence Eugene Monnier, age 78 of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at his home, just one day shy of his 79th birthday. Larry was born in Sidney, Ohio on September 2, 1941 to Nelson and Margaret Monnier (nee: Couchot). He attended Holy Angels, graduating in 1959. After high school he attended the University of Toledo on an athletic scholarship, graduating in 1963 with a degree in marketing. Upon graduation from UT he accepted a job at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan working in Labor Relations and was employed there until his early retirement in 1992. In 1992 he started his dream job of working at Stoney Creek Golf Course as the manager and retired in 2017. Larry was a sports enthusiast, following OSU in football and basketball as well as the Detroit Tigers baseball team. He enjoyed playing golf, especially in his retirement years, and loved attending any sports functions in which his grandchildren played.

On November 27, 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Anne Schemmel and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. She survives with 3 children: Lynn Kemmer (Ed), Mindy Kukuk (Craig) and Matthew Monnier (Nikki) all of Michigan; grandchildren Adam, Melissa, Kevin, Connor, Charlie, Justin, Jon, Maddie and Katie all of Michigan. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Trebonik (Ted) of Mansfield, Ohio, sisters-in-law Sherry Monnier of Westerville, Ohio, Jackie Monnier of Sidney, Ohio, Jolene Wahl of Cleveland, Ohio and brother-in-law Lee Schemmel of Daytona, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews who are deeply saddened by their uncle's passing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and William as well as his in-laws Charles and Edna Schemmel (nee: Kinninger).

Family and friends may visit on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Rd., Sidney.  Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m.at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney.
