Dennis L. Hughes, age 78, of Sidney, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Wilson Health Emergency Room in Sidney. He was born on November 6, 1944, in Wichita Falls, TX, to the late Richard Thomas and Betty Elora (Allen) Hughes. On July 31, 1965, he married Susan (Tennant) Hughes and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Scott (Ling) Hughes of Cincinnati and Jeff (Bridget) Hughes of Tipp City; two grandchildren: Mason Hughes and Mallory Hughes; three siblings: Richard (Donna) Hughes and Diana (Jack) Yantis, bot of Troy, and Debera (Walt) McCloy of Pataskala; and special cousin, Judy Johnson.
Dennis proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force from 1962- 1966. He was a Vietnam era veteran. Dennis was a member of Masonic Blue Lodge in Wapakoneta, Knights Templar Commandery of Sidney, Council and Chapter of St. Marys and was a Knight of Grand Knights Templar of Ohio. He served as Grand Commander of Knights Templar of Ohio and was also Eminent Prior of Ohio. He was also a Boy Scout leader, recipient of Silver Beaver Award and elected to the Shelby County Boy Scout Hall of Fame. Dennis was an elder at the Sidney Presbyterian Church. He taught Sunday school and played in the bell choir. Dennis was also a member of the Sidney American Legion. He was a huge Cleveland Browns, Toledo Rockets, Ohio State Buckeye, and Tipp City Red Devil fan. Dennis retired as Regional Sales Manager for ProSource One. Dennis loved his family with everything he had and was also his grandchildrens’ biggest fan.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Rev. Carol Pierson officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney with full military honors provided by Shelby County Veterans Honor Guard and US Air Force. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
