Ada Joann Fogt

Ada Joann (McClain) Fogt, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2021.  She was 89 years old.  She was born on April 18, 1932, in Sidney to the late Francis and Philomena (Rakel) McClain.

Ada is survived by her husband of 69 years: Herbert J. Fogt; a son: Keith Michael (Ruth) Fogt of Richmond, TX; a daughter: Kimberly (Fogt) Caruso of Buffalo, NY; a son-in-law: Kerry O’Banion of Troy, OH; a sister: Rose (McClain) Brady of New Bremen, OH; seven grandchildren: Peter (Amber) Fogt, Daniel Fogt, Andrea (Gunnar) Sorem, Kevin (Kaylin) O’Banion, Colin O’Banion, Philip Caruso and Kelly (Eric) Braun; three great grandchildren: Calder Fogt, Charles Braun and Maxwell Braun; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her daughter: Deborah (Fogt) O’Banion; her granddaughter: Esther Michelle Fogt; her brothers: William (Betty) McClain, Lt. Col. Ralph (Mary Jo) McClain, Alfred (Nancy) McClain, James (Blanche) McClain; and her sisters: Mary (McClain) Huckeriede and Dorothy (McClain) Moniaci.

Ada was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and past choir member.  She graduated from Holy Angels High School in Sidney in 1950.  Ada volunteered as a den mother of Cub Scout Pack 365 and St. Patrick Alter Society.  She retired in 1987 from The Troy School System, having worked at the cafeterias of the Junior High, High School and Hook Elementary School, where she was Manager.  She also worked at Rike-Kumbler in Dayton, and Aeroproducts in Vandalia.  Ada loved gardening, especially her rose garden, crafting, canning and making pies.  Most of all, she loved working with children and raising her family.

Friends and family are invited to meet at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, from 8:00 – 9:45 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021, prior to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 S. Ohio Avenue, Sidney, at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jarred Kohn as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
