Welcome to the memorial page for

Thelma R. Wise

April 10, 1918 ~ July 19, 2017 (age 99) 99 Years Old

On the evening of July 19, 2017 at 6:00 PM, a reunion took place in heaven.  Thelma Ruby Steele Wise departed from this life to receive her reward from her Lord and Savior and was then reunited with friends and family who had passed before her.  A celebration indeed!  Thelma was born on April 10, 1918 in Renesslear Falls, NY.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents: Clinton and Ruby (Bell) McMartin; her husbands: Jesse W. Steele in 1974 and Stanley Wise in 1982; brothers: Neil McMartin and William McMartin (NY) and Larry McMartin and Dick McMartin (Sidney, OH); sister: Mary Copeland (NV); two sons: John Steele(deceased n infancy) and Robert Steele; and one grandson: Bobby Steele (deceased in infancy).  All these family members attended the heavenly reunion.

Thelma is survived by sisters: Jean Hand (NV) and Barb Dorrough (OK); son: Cecil (Shirley) Steele of Sidney; daughter Judy (George) Snodgrass of Sidney; daughter-in-law: Sue Steele of TX; grandchildren: Tim (Ann) Steele of IN, Tom (Kim) Steele of TX, Kim (Rick) Nelms of TX, Jackie (Rich) Steele of TX, Mandy (Jeremy) Brooks of Sidney, OH, Jamie Arnold of Sidney, OH, George Snodgrass of Versailles, OH and Angie (Steve) Stepler of McCartyville, OH; great grandchildren: Diane, Cheyanne, Bridgette, Justin, Sara, Jesse, Jordan, Brenna, Dylan, Garrett, Kylie, Jayden, Maci, Lexy, Haylee, Luke and Emily; and seven great, great grandchildren.

Thelma lived a life of service as a nurse of 40 years.  She worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney as well as Detmer Hospital in Troy.  She was a Sunday school teacher and played the piano for her church for many years.

Her friends and family have many treasures to hold on to as she was an avid quilter and seamstress.  She loved reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and had a quick and wicked sense of humor.  Her laugh was infectious and her Irish temper memorable.  She was loved dearly and will be missed beyond measure.

It’s fitting that she would leave us in her 99th year as she always claimed that she wasn’t old because she wasn’t 100 and didn’t want to be.  She will always remain forever young in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on August 13, 2017 at Connection Point Church in Sidney, OH with Rev. Allen Leach officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Adams Funeral Home in Sidney.

Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.theadamsfuneralhome.com.
