Ruth Elizabeth (Ellis) Petty, 90, of Sidney, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at The Dorothy Love Retirement Community , with her family by her side.
Ruth was born January 22, 1925, in Logan County, Ohio, to the late Bernard Ellis and Armenda (Brown) Ellis. She was married to Bill Petty and he preceded her in death.
Surviving Ruth is her daughter, Nancy Murphy, of Jackson Center; four grandchildren, David and Tracie Murphy, William and Jennifer Murphy, Angel Barhorst and Christopher Murphy; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Ruth was also preceded in death by one son, Leroy Petty; and 2nd husband, John Watkins.
Ruth was a homemaker. She loved to sew, knit and crochet Afghans, and spend her free time playing bingo and Euchre with her many friends and family. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by them all.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday immediately following the visitation with Chaplain Michael Herbert officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Senior Independence Hospice, 6520 Poe Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, 45414, in Ruth Petty’s memory, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
