Reverend Foster (Bud) Alexander

Reverend Foster (Bud) Alexander Jr., age 69, of Sidney, went home to his Lord Jesus Christ on January 15, 2018 at 12:55 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Bud was born in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Foster Lee Alexander Sr. and Birdie Lee (Grubbs) Alexander on April 20. 1948.

After graduating from Arcanum High School in 1968, he served in the U S Army from 1968 to 1970 in Korea. 

On August 9, 1970, he married the love of his life, Virginia Ann (York) Alexander, who survives.

He is also survived by two children, son, Shane (Leeann) Alexander of Sidney and daughter, Angel (Steve) Gillem of Sidney, daughter-in-law, Brandi Alexander of Grand Rapids, MI.,   11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are siblings, Janet (Tom) Adams of Sidney, Roger (Cathy) Alexander of New Madison, Patty Shank and Terry Caupp of Gettysburg, Ohio, Tammy (Mark) Wendel of Piqua, Kim Unger of Arcanum, Angie (Dave) Lithgow of Port St. Lucie, FL., and Timothy Alexander of Arcanum.

Bud was preceded in death by one son, Jason Alexander, his parents, Foster and Birdie Alexander, one sister, Nellie Faye (Sis) Alexander.

Bud was an ordained minister of the gospel. His passion was serving the Lord Jesus Christ in various capacities, from preaching to baptizing, performing many marriages and funerals.  He had a clown ministry, taught Sunday school, Chaplain at the hospital, and went on a mission trip to Africa in 2004, where many souls were saved.

Bud worked at Copeland Corporation/Emerson Technologies for 43 years.  He was an avid hunter, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He had a zest for life, with an infectious smile, always looking for opportunities to let his light shine and win souls to Christ.  He will be greatly missed by his wife and family, and so many others too numerous to count.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Botner, officiating.  Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Hardin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Bible Ministries and/or Gideon’s International in Bud’s memory.
