Melvin Pfister

MELVIN PFISTER, age 95, of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 12:35 AM at the Pavilion in Sidney.  He was born April 28, 1920 in Shelby County to the late John and Grace (Billing) Pfister.  On September 5, 1953, he and the former Lucille Epperson were married.  She preceded him in death May 12, 2005.

Mr. Pfister was also preceded in death by one sister: Anna Bennett; and a twin brother: Marvin Pfister.  Mr. Pfister is survived by his two nieces: Rebecca Belden and Vivian (Paul) Goins, both of Sidney.  He is also survived by two great nephews: Troy Belden and Jeff Goins; as well as one great niece: Robyn (Jeff) Smith; and one great great nephew: Lucas Smith.

Mr. Pfister was a lifelong farmer in Shelby, Logan and Champaign counties.  He also was a past Township Trustee in Perry Township, a member of the former Unity Grange and a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, where he served many years as Sunday School Superintendant.  He also served as a Deacon and Elder of the church.  Mr. Pfister enjoyed life to the fullest with a wonderful sense of humor and a great capacity for caring about others.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor James Oates officiating. Visitation will be  from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco.
