Irene M. (Buchenroth) Byrd

IRENE M. BYRD, age 93, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney.  She was born in Pemberton on June 4, 1924 to the late Clarence and Olive Belle (Detrick) Buchenroth.  Irene was lovingly raised by Walter and Emma Brackney.  On December 7, 1941, she married Fredrick L. Byrd, Sr.  He preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.

Irene is survived by her children: Dale Byrd of Bellefontaine, Betty (David) Pickering of Lakeview, Jo (John) Harman and Elsa Jones, both of Sidney; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Fred Byrd, Jr.; one daughter: Charlotte Puckett; one daughter-in-law: Penny Byrd; one grandson: Keith Byrd; four brothers and three sisters.

Irene was a member of Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sidney.  She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and doing alterations.

Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Brent Driver and Pastor Arnold Collette co-officiating.  Burial will be in Shelby Memory Garden.  Friends may call on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
