Bernard L. Allen, age 77, of Piqua, passed away November 8, 2017, at his residence.

He was born March 17, 1940 in Sidney to the late Bernard W. and Olive (Hoy) Allen.

Bernard married Margaret E (Gilbert) Allen on August 13, 1957. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Also surviving are children; Robert W. Allen of Piqua, Bernard L. (Margie) Allen II of Sidney, Timothy W. (Janie) Allen of Piqua, William A. (Bobbi) Allen of Piqua, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters; Pat (Vincent) Waters of Wapakoneta, Charlene (Larry) Mertz of Sidney, Ann McGrath and Bill, her significant other of Sidney.

His wife, Margaret, preceded him in death on November 1, 2017. He was also preceded in death  by brother, Emerson Neil Hoy and sister, Sharon Bell Allen.

Bernard was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Lockington. He was retired from Slagle Mechanical of Sidney.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and giving away the vegetables that he grew. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Christine Mertz, officiating.  Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Hardin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice and/or The New Beginnings Church in Lockington in Bernard’s memory.

The staff of Adams Funeral Home has been entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
