Gary W. Lentz

Gary W. Lentz, age 78 of Sidney, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the afternoon of March 27, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born on June 25, 1945, in Anna, the son of the late Alonzo and Ada (Soerhoff) Lentz. On July 8, 1988, he married Janet Millhouse Lentz who preceded him in death exactly one year earlier on March 27, 2023.  

He is survived by his children, Brad (Casey) Lentz of Rossburg, Brian (Erica) Lentz of Sidney and stepchildren, Gayle Gallimore of Winchester, Indiana and Martin (Ashley) Blair of Sidney, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Roger (Suzanne) Lentz of Anna and a brother-in-law, Tom (Deb) Millhouse of New Bremen.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Arvilla (Marvin) Miller, Harry (Elmira) Lentz, and Jeannette (William) Grewe. 

Gary graduated from Anna High School in 1963 and became a dairy farmer. He also spent time working as a livestock feed nutritionist and high school agriculture teacher at Wayne Trace and Dalton Public Schools. He was also a clerk for Lentz Auction Service for many years.  Gary enjoyed collecting coins, toy tractors, NASCAR collectibles and many other items. 

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Kris Geise officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM before the service.
